Glass continuous stirred-tank reactor

Continuous reaction

Hold a well-mixed process at steady operating conditions.

A continuous stirred-tank reactor receives reactants and removes product while agitation maintains a comparatively uniform composition and temperature throughout the vessel. The outlet therefore represents the conditions inside the reactor, making the CSTR a practical platform for steady-state flow chemistry. Borosilicate glass provides corrosion resistance and direct process visibility for kilo-lab, pilot and small-production duties. Heating or cooling can be supplied through a jacket or bath, and automated controls can be incorporated around flow, temperature and agitation.

Continuous flow

Feed enters and product leaves during operation.

Well mixed

Agitation promotes uniform bulk conditions.

Thermally controlled

Jackets or baths add or remove process heat.

Automation ready

Flow and process controls can be integrated.

Salient features

Designed for controllable continuous processing.

The vessel and control arrangement can be matched to reaction rate, residence time, phase behaviour and heat-transfer demand.

Steady-state operation

Reactor conditions are maintained while feed and product flow continuously.

Uniform process conditions

Effective mixing limits gradients in temperature, density and concentration.

Broad reaction duty

Suitable for exothermic, isothermal and endothermic liquid-phase reactions.

High-agitation applications

Useful where viscous or immiscible liquids require strong mixing.

Heat-transfer options

A vessel jacket or external bath can supply or remove heat.

Process visibility

Glass construction lets operators observe flow, mixing and phase behaviour.

System arrangements

Choose a single CSTR or a controlled reactor cascade.

Residence-time and conversion requirements determine whether one vessel or multiple reactors in series provide the better process fit.

Single continuous stirred-tank reactor

One well-mixed stage for steady-state processing

A single CSTR provides a straightforward continuously fed and discharged reaction stage with agitation and thermal control.

Multiple stirred reactors operated in series

Three- or four-reactor cascades can improve residence-time control and reduce back-mixing when a single vessel cannot deliver the required conversion or process behaviour.
