Glass reactor system

Reactor engineering

Make the reaction visible, controllable and easier to scale.

Borosilicate glass combines broad corrosion resistance with direct visibility of mixing, phase behaviour and reaction progress. This makes it especially useful for kilo laboratories, pilot plants and smaller production batches where process understanding is as important as containment. UD Technologies configures each reactor around the chemistry, operating temperature, heat-transfer duty, agitation requirement and downstream operation. Cylindrical reactors support geometric similarity during scale-up, while spherical and specialised vessel forms suit particular batch, filtration and distillation duties.

Up to 300 litres

Batch, filter and spherical configurations are available across laboratory and pilot scales.

Borosilicate glass

Transparent, corrosion-resistant product-contact construction for demanding chemistry.

Batch or continuous

Select the reactor arrangement around residence time, mixing and process sequence.

Custom engineered

Jackets, agitation, controls and supporting systems are matched to the user requirement.

Configuration options

A reactor platform built around the process.

The vessel, heat-transfer arrangement and handling system can be selected independently to suit the chemistry and operating procedure.

Transparent process observation

Operators can observe mixing, phase changes, crystallisation and filtration directly through the glass vessel.

Jacket and thermal options

Choose glass, stainless-steel or mild-steel jackets together with heating or cooling baths and mantles.

Process-specific agitation

Glass or PTFE agitation systems, baffles and single- or multi-stage arrangements can be configured for the duty.

Reaction and filtration

Filter-reactor configurations combine synthesis, washing, filtration and drying in one vessel.

Cryogenic capability

Triple-walled vessels use an evacuated outer jacket to insulate very low-temperature reactions and preserve visibility.

Instrumentation and automation

Manual, motorised and automated arrangements can be supplied to match operating and validation requirements.

Reactor configurations

Compare the principal glass reactor arrangements.

Final capacities, connections, materials and controls are confirmed against the process and user requirement specification.

Batch and jacketed reactors

Glass batch and jacketed reactors

A flexible platform for API, fine-chemical and pilot-plant reactions. Cylindrical construction supports scale-up studies, while jackets and external heating or cooling equipment provide temperature control.

Filter reactors and SPPS reactors

Glass filter reactors for reaction and solid handling

Filter reactors support liquid-solid reactions and consolidate synthesis, washing, filtration and cake handling. Solid-phase peptide synthesis configurations serve laboratory and pilot-scale work.

Triple-walled cryogenic reactors

Insulated glass reactors for cryogenic reactions

A process jacket circulates low-temperature fluid while the evacuated outer jacket acts as an insulation barrier. This reduces external icing that can obscure observation in conventional jacketed vessels.

Spherical reaction-distillation units

Spherical reactors for small batches and purification

Spherical glass reactors can be assembled as fractional reaction-cum-distillation units for small-batch production, purification and solvent distillation.
