Glass shell and tube heat exchanger teaching equipment

Chemical engineering education

Make transport phenomena and unit operations visible, measurable and teachable.

UD Technologies develops technical teaching equipment for universities, engineering colleges and research institutes. Glass process sections allow students to observe flow, phase behaviour, reaction and heat transfer while recording the operating data needed to connect theory with experiment. Systems can be supplied as focused laboratory apparatus or as integrated pilot plants. Optional computerised control and data supervision support repeatable practical work, live demonstrations and research projects across chemical engineering and allied disciplines.

Four study areas

Heat transfer, reactions, mass transfer and unit operations.

Visible process

Glass equipment exposes flow and phase behaviour.

Modular scope

Choose one experiment or an integrated pilot plant.

Digital option

Computerised control and data supervision are available.

Salient features

A practical teaching platform across the core curriculum.

The final equipment arrangement, materials and controls are selected around the process duty and site conditions.

Heat-transfer studies

Compare exchanger flow patterns, condensation, evaporation and boiling.

Reaction engineering

Study batch, semi-batch, CSTR, PFR, packed-bed and falling-film reactors.

Mass transfer

Run distillation, extraction, absorption, adsorption and wetted-wall experiments.

Mechanical operations

Demonstrate filtration, drying, cyclone and hydrocyclone separation.

Pilot-plant integration

Combine reaction, separation, evaporation and heat exchange in one system.

Data acquisition

Add sensors, computerised control and supervisory data logging.

Teaching programme

Select equipment by subject and learning outcome.

Apparatus can be configured around prescribed experiments, available utilities, class size and the required level of instrumentation.
