Bromine recovery and production plant

Industrial bromide recovery

Turn bromide-bearing process streams back into reusable bromine.

Bromination reactions can leave a substantial share of the original bromine as hydrogen bromide or dissolved sodium and potassium bromides. A recovery plant converts these aqueous streams back into elemental bromine, reducing raw-material loss and the bromide load sent to waste treatment. Chlorine oxidises the bromide feed in a glass reaction and stripping column. Live steam strips liberated bromine and excess chlorine, glass heat exchangers condense the vapour, and a purification column distils the crude bromine. Organic contamination can be removed in a feed pretreatment stage before recovery.

>99.5% purity

Typical purified bromine product for process reuse.

Multiple feeds

Recover from HBr, NaBr, KBr and aqueous waste.

Material recovery

Reduce bromine purchase and waste-treatment demand.

Custom pretreatment

Condition feeds containing process organics.

Salient features

A complete oxidation, stripping and purification process.

The final equipment arrangement, materials and controls are selected around the process duty and site conditions.

Reactive stripping

Chlorine oxidation and live steam release bromine from aqueous bromides.

Staged condensation

Cooling and chilling exchangers condense bromine-rich overhead vapour.

Phase separation

A glass separator divides condensed bromine from the aqueous phase.

Bromine purification

Reboiling and fractional distillation raise crude bromine to reuse quality.

Corrosion-resistant plant

Glass and compatible materials are applied throughout the aggressive service.

Automation options

PLC control and application-specific instrumentation can be integrated.

System configuration

Follow the bromine recovery process from feed to product.

The plant is engineered as one coordinated system, with pretreatment and final drying added where the feed and product specification require them.
